Litter bins are for litter every day of the week but in Waitakere, residents who get “caught” putting rubbish in the bin on Freebie Fridays may be spotted by our three trusty litterpickers. Gordon, Vivian and Graham keep an eye open for people putting their rubbish in the litter bins and so that they can reward them with various Be a Tidy Kiwi souvenirs or vouchers on Freebie Fridays.

And as for those that get it wrong and throw their rubbish on the ground? They may be the unlucky recipients of a $400 fine! Not what you want to get summer off to a good start, so come on mate, put it in the bin.
